I am looking for promoters that are strong in Bacillus as expression hosts.
I found only xylose-inducible promoter and P43 (a strong constitutive promoter,
Wang et al., 2004 Biotechnology & bioengineering. 87(4):459-64.).
Does anyone use other promoters in Bacillus spp. as hosts?
Try Promoter, Pgrac and Pgrac series, recent publications:
- "Development of a strong intracellular expression system for Bacillus subtilis by optimizing promoter elements". Some of these plasmids are on the market at Mobitec (for example, pHT01 (Pgrac), pHT253 (Pgrac100).
- "Construction of a 5'-controllable stabilizing element (CoSE) for over-production of heterologous proteins at high levels in Bacillus subtilis".

Alternatively, you could pick one of the promoters published recently in our Bacillus BioBrick Box - there you find strong constitutive ones like Pveg or PlepA but also inducible ones, like PliaI or PxylA. All come in BioBrick format on compatible vectors, if you wish ;-)
