Thanks! Actually, I need to record speech, and to extract just the temporal envelope, don't need all the harmonics and fundamental frequency. Then, I need to use the envelope as waveform. I guess I need Hilbert transform or a relevant linear operator, but the question is how to extract just the envelope but not all other frequencies? That's why I asked for friendly user software that does all these stuffs automatically.
If you are only doing acoustic analysis and don't need to integrate w/ other data (for which Matlab is indeed appropriate but might be more complex than you need), there is free/shareware called Audacity that we've found useful for extraction, conversion etc. Not sure of all the exact envelopes available, but you could check it out and search for user reviews (some of which will mention alternative software).
