These datasets were downloaded from the portal of University of East Anglia's Climate Research Unit. I humbly request for either a software or scripting approach of extract the needed data for my study area.

CRU data sets are basically month-wise. Let me know What is format of data you have downloaded. If it is .nc format then please use grads (http://cola.gmu.edu/grads/grads.php) to split month-wise or annually.

Many thanks for the response. The data appeared in two formats which are .dat and .stn. Yes, the main data were in monthly format which I was intending to integrate to annual series. I will work on based on the recommended.
