I'm trying to use this DAC technology in the aviation industry. Can anyone suggest some ideas on how to do so? I too have some ideas and am willing to work on them.
My work will be designing a cost-efficient module that can be used for carbon capture. If you have seen a CC plant, there are large fans that suck the air, I thought of eliminating that energy of running that motor. As the plane already flies through a lot of air in its journey, we can almost make the plane carbon neutral.
First answer few questions-
Are you capturing the exhaust of the aircraft or in general the air from the environment?
International flights fly at a height of greater than Mt. Everest, what is the concentration of CO2 at that level in the air, will the system be good at that height?
How you are making sure that your DAC system is not disturbing the aerodynamics of the aircraft?
Are you using aircraft's engine to power your fans or is your system is going to put pressure on aircraft that might end up using more fuel?
One suggestion- I think you should look for designing the entire aircraft to seamlessly fuse your system in the aerodynamic system and body of the plane itself, so instead of creating more load on the engine, you might be able to help flight and reduce fuel consumption, while having your DAC system working in place.
Few years back a student from NID, designed at food carrying box that took input of exhaust gases from the bike into it, what went wrong was that the student didn't worked on the load that the system created on the engine and it was a failure. He should have made something that can take away the heat not smoke out of the inner engine cylinders and transfer it to the food box, but I guess he didn't wanted to work hard in entire bike engine redesign or overhaul.

Though my specialization is Avionics so I cannot comment on the technicalities but recently I came across an article where the concept is to use DAC to provide energy for the aircraft by absorbing and converting atmospheric CO2 into fuel. If I remember correctly it was Aerion the company developing supersonic passenger aircraft. There are a number of aircraft that fly in the region of atmosphere where quantity of CO2 is sufficient. If you can keep the weight and size small enough UAVs can be a good host platform. Regards
