I want to measure the stability of alumina nanofluids at volume concentrations of 1-5vol. % concentration.
The UV-Vis spectrometer needs me to dilute my samples before light can pass through. If I maintain a dilution factor for all the samples, does it mean that I have altered the volume concentration of my samples?
Also, I want to carry out Fourier Transform Infra-red (FTIR) analysis of the nanofluids at different concentrations. Does this analysis help me show stability?

Yes, diluting by a factor of some number is equivalent to reduction of the volume concentration by the same number. And measuring the spectra over time will allow you to determine the stability of the suspension.
FTIR can be done only in case of nanofluid prepared by single step which shows only functional group.
