With particular reference to knowledge sharing, the article argues that where large organizations make an effort to boost certain behaviors the solutions they fabricate can aggravate problems. Instead, designing jobs for knowledge behaviors and recruiting people who are positive about sharing to start with will boost knowledge stocks and flows at low cost. There must be implications for bureaucratic management to impact employee behavior elsewhere.
