I was working on designing a unique kind of Sensor, that can be used to detect different kind of things in air. Now I want to patent my research findings, but i don't know how to do that. I need some information regarding this. Thanks

Additionally, if you are not self-employed, you should ask your employer if he will release your invention or if he want to exploit it himself. In the second case, he might provide a patent lawyer and take the costs for the application process.
You may contact your institution. They may have got a patent department or at least a patent lawyer office at hand to do these things....
Nice things to talk about, but first things first! In order to get a patent you should be a) novel, b) inventive and c) it should be industrial applicable. Therefore, an exploring patent search is the first step before investing in things that are already patented, moreover, you can't draft a good patent application without knowing the state-of-the-art. Have a look at the following patent classes to identify your particular sensing technology. Try to find the class(es) whihc represent your invention and then start a patent with those classes in a patent database (free or commercial).
