Comparing presence/absence distribution maps under current und future climate conditions (applying also different thresholds) I noticed that the calibrated MaxEnt models tended to predict species presence in some of the areas having novel climatic conditions, i.e. that the models extrapolated in environmental space outside the range of conditions used to calibrate the models. I would like to better understand this issue, especially where are the limits for such an extrapolation?
