Hi, TLD readers in most cases are calibrated by supplier. It is however important to redo the calibration often to ascertain the reliability of its output. The procedure for calibration is also well explained in the operator manual. In general, standard dosimeters (TLD 100) in most cases are used for the calibration. The dosimeters would be given a fixed dose and read out under same condition. In most cases a high heating rate is used (~ 10 to 25 oC/s). The integrated TL (output in unit of nanoCoulomb in general) depending on the set up used would be used to determine the ECC (Element corrections coefficient) of the each of the TLD dosimeters as well as the RCF (Reader Calibration Factor of the TLD reader). This is a measure of the sensitivity of the machine and changes with age of the machine and other factors.
Thanks a lot. We have Co-60 radiotherapy, Gamma Med plus (Ir-192 HDR), Mammography, CR system, Treatment simulator, Tc-99m & I-131 sources of radiations. I want to caliberate the TLD system 310. TLD-100 chips 3 mm x 3 mm are available in our institute.
The problems are ,when we irridiate the batch of TLD and start reading them using the 310 system using the company preset values of editable fields in the software namely those marked with red eclipse in attachments, mostly no reading is obtained. But when we change values in above mentioned field, we observe the values that differ at great extent, and I have no idea about these fields. The soft copy of relevant pages of user's manual of the system is being attached.
Sir, You are welcome for any other query.
Kind Regards,
