I intend to use Plaxis on our high performance computing facilities (large number of CPU\'s, memory, etc) where the operating system is CentOS Linux. Does Plaxis 2D setup for Linux platforms exist? if not, what solution would you propose?
PLAXIS is designed and tested to be run on a natively running Windows Operating system (e.g. Windows 7 Professional, Windows 8 Professional, Windows 10 Professional). The User Interface and the calculation Kernel use some functionalities of the Windows, so this fact might create a conflict while running PLAXIS on a Linux operating system. The only solution we could suggest you is to create a virtual machine in which the Windows operating system is installed.
First option: Find linux alternative of PLAXIS. I gess HPC is managed by IT department. So there are some requirements to install apps on HPC. For example: Distributed computing capability.
If your program does not provide distributed computing you dont need HPC. Generaly HPC's CPU speed is low then Desktop CPU speed. If your program is designed for desktop, I am sure It will work faster on desktop PC.
If you have to use PLAXIS, install it on many desktop PCs. Then run program remotely (as far as I see PLAXIS support command line options). So you have a windows desktop mini HPC.
