I would like to determine molecular weight of a water soluble cationic polymer. What is the suitable GPC standard for cationic polymers in aqueous GPC system?
Among PEG and Poly(DADMAC), which is better choice for this purpose?
PEG is a polymer with neutral groups. Cationic polymers has a polyelectrolite behavior in water solutions. The difference in structure between your cationic polymer and PEG will lead the error in the molecular weights and the molecular size. So, you can not use PEG as a GPS standard. You can use Poly(DADMAC) for your purpose.
