A sample of water and xerogel was prepared and used. The sample was put in the NMR machine. Then, the sample was inserted in the dryer and then again in the NMR machine several times. The same happened for the second sample which had water, xerogel, and NaCl.
Are you saying the drying process did not remove all the water in both samples?

I also do not quite understand what your question is. Are you doing NMR on a high-field liquid NMR, solid-state NMR or TD-NMR on a benchtop?
In general NaCl (like any ions) do reduced the detection sensitivity and the 90° excitation pulse. To what degree this happens does depend on the type of NMR technique and equipment you are using (see above comment).
If you use a high-field NMR with a cryo-probe a ionic strength of 150 mM can reduce the sensitivity by a factor of two and double the length of the 90° pulse for 5 mm tube, whereas for same sample in a low-field without cryo-probe or solid-state NMR you hardly will see any effect.
