PET is a type of scan in which a radiolabelled glucose named 18F-FDG is provided to the patient before scanning. The scanner detects the radioactivity and since the metabolism of glucose in malignant cancer cells is higher, the detection of radioactivity can help in deducing the area of tumor. The PET scanner uses scintillation camera to detect the photons (gamma rays) and convert to electrical signals.
Is it possible for a nanoparticle to detect this radioactivity? I mean, I want a nanoparticle dosage to get attracted towards this radioactivity. Are there any nanoparticles with which this might be possible?

I don't want Nanoparticles which exhibit radioactivity. I am looking for particles which can detect radioactivity. For example, If a dosage of FDG is provided first, the radioactivity exhibited by the FDG must be detected by another dosage of nanoparticles, in vivo/in vitro. As far as now, we inject nanoparticles/FDG which can exhibit radioactivity and use PET scanners and gamma cameras to capture the distribution. But my query is,
Is it possible to synthesize a nanoparticle ensemble which can 'detect' the exhibited radioactivity by the FDG, in vivo/in vitro?
I am new in this field. So Please let me know if I am not clear in my query.
