We plan on using menthol crystals in sea water to take good pictures of sea anemones and then dissect and preserve the tissues of those anemones in ethanol and liquid nitrogen for DNA extraction and PacBio sequencing.

Can methol affect the extraction and sequencing steps ?

Is it preferable to put the anemone back in tanks for a while to wash off the menthol before dissection and preservation ?
