is it possible that mass spectrometry can tell radical ions or is it not not possible? (Because loss of an electron will result in only 0.0005 Da, there is no instrument with such high resolution?)

How do people tell when something is a radical ion (usually fragments)? Are they usually predicted based on theory?

Thanks!
