I was curious to know what factors affect the resolution of a quadrupole mass analyzer. I find a lot of electrical settings that may affect the mass of the ions that are being transmitted. Is there any factors that may affect the resolution of the ion signals (FWHM)?

In other words, once the ions attain stable trajectory and are able to be transmitted, do the ions have the same resolution regardless of the mass? (The contrary example would be TOF mass analyzer that the resolution of the peak signal depends on the square root of mass to charge ratio.)
