Luders band arises in low carbon steels and these bands then requires less stress for their propagation than for their formation because of the freeing of dislocations from their solute atmospheres.

I think it forms only in Fe-base superalloy. Because Solubility of C in Fe is defined by allotromophic forms of it. The solubility of C in Ni base and Co is low. I not sure whether it would form in such superalloy
