of course, you can have few parameters to monitor the climate change effect on mangroves i.e. LST over the years, NDVI (anomaly), LU/LC, SAVI etc. using these parameters you can find out the relation. All these things are possible with L-8 and other RS data.

I agree with  Avinash Kumar Ranjan but be aware that indices like SAVI and NDVI have been improved. You may want to consider MSAVI2, NDVI705,RVI etc
