Beta lactams are one of the promising antibiotics since early antibiotic era. But very few reports claim their use against Mtb Lactams are more active against gram positive bacteria due to easy access to peptidoglycan, however monobactams are active against gram negative bacteria due their high affinity towards PBP3. So can we use lactams against Mtb? If not then why?
