I want to know can mobile phones apps which use PPG be used for HRV measurements. I want to use it for my research study comprising of more 150 participants.

You are looking for very basics of HRV analysis, you can use, but i think, it is paid. Another option is Kubios, its open source for students. Another is, if you know basics of Matlab, try that one for more in-depth analysis. Go for windows software than phone apps for fast analysis.

Pragati Anil Karwande Yes you can. Many type of devices are available for ECG from 2 - 12 electrode. Even you can design your own devices for this using some amplifier and other circuits.
