I am planning to write a systematic review with meta-analysis regarding the diagnostic threshold of a biomarker for a disease. While I am making a preliminary literature search, I found out that only one study could fit perfectly my drafted inclusion criteria, which has provided ROC optimal threshold value with sensitivity and specificity (while PPV and NPV could be calculated). I found several studies with similar designs but either only the area under curve was provided or the disease definitions were too broad (my research interest is on a sub-class of the disease) or too narrow (with some other co-morbidities).

Could I contact the corresponding authors of these studies to ask if they could provide the information needed? Would such act be impolite? If they are willing to offer me those figures, would it be appropriate to use these unpublished figures for meta-analysis?
