I have the code for the single-objective optimization algorithm . Can I use the same code to solve multi-objective problems if I am rewriting the multiobjective function as a single objective function ( say for instance as a weighted sum )?Please Help

There are many ways to transform the multiobjective optimization problem into a single objective problem.
One of these techniques is to transform the multi-objective problem by combining its multiple objectives into one single-objective scalar function. But this technique may have the following disadvantage « Non-convex parts of the Pareto Front set cannot be reached by minimizing convex combinations of the objective functions ».

Linear weighted method converts the multi-objective programming problems to single objective programming problems, and we can get Pareto optimal solutions.

You may define new objective function based on two or more objective function. One way is to assign weighs of each function.
Eg:
F1=min (f1)
F2=Max(f2)
Then u can make new function
F=min(0.5*F1+0.5/F2)

The disadvantage of a weighted sum is that you implicitly assume that the additive form of a multi-attribute utility function holds. In real-life this requires rigorous proofs, Moreover, the weights should be calculated according to some specified rules and not subjectively.
