Like if subjects exercised in hot environment, and as a result, blood flow redistributes to the skin and muscles, which may leave the heart muscles with less blood flow and hence less oxygen. If we measured the heart tissue level of HIF, can this indicate a cardiac dysfunction, though it is a factor of angiogenesis?
I will caution to use HIF level as the sole indicator for low O2 bioavailability in cardiac myocytes. There are several factors also control the level say like ROS etc.
Yes and no! HIF plays a major role in hypoxic response and it can be a good marker for cellular hypoxia. However, HIF is a very unstable protein, and by the time you process the tissue, it's level might fluctuate a lot. It all depends on your experimental model and your molecular biology methods.
