I have read literature where citing personal experience in an article was tagged either unethical or lacking evidence. Why do some scholars consider it inappropriate to cite personal experience in research article?
It very much depends upon the context and the nature of the research. But in general some reasons why personal experiences are not research are that they are not generalizable but are unique to you and may not represent the broader population of set of situations. They can be influenced or interpreted through your own biases, and it is not really possible for anyone to verify the accuracy of your own experiences. In general research should be verifiable and repeatable.
However if you use your personal experiences as a starting point to design experiments to test the validity of your observations, then that would likely be fine.
