I extracted Fucoidan by CaCl2 method (Bilan, 2002). After washing with ethanol and drying, fucoidan is powder, but after dialysis and freeze dryer it is cotton like. Now, can I use the Fucoidan powder (before dialysis) for purification and anticoagulant tests (this fucoidan is suitable)?please guide me.
anticoagulant tests without dialysis and freeze dryer Fucoidan will decrease tests standardization, I think necessary to conduct dialysis and freeze dryer.
Dialysis is done to remove excess salt and other impurities from the fucoidan. If you prefer the fucoidan to be in powder form, use spray drying instead of freeze drying.
Would like to enquire, as mentioned in your question, what purification method you plan to use on your fucoidan?

thank you, I want purification of fucoidan by ion exchange chromatography(DEAE-sephadex or sephacel).
