I'm currently trying to purify a nucleoside derivative and I have encountered problems. The product is pretty insoluble in organic solvents, including methanol and has limited solubility in water. I've tried running on silica columns but the product doesn't come off even at 30-40% MeOH/DCM.  Unfortunately the compound has little retention on RP silica so this isn't an option either. These considerations have led me to florasil (magnesium silicate).  I've struggled to find much information online but from what I've gathered it's less polar than silica and apparently it's insoluble in both methanol and water.  So basically I'm looking for any information or advice anyone has about florasil chromatography, for example solubility in various solvents, purification procedures, references etc.  Thanks in advance
