I want to synthesize Lithium ion battery/coin cell. For that i have to make electrodes using my materials.I want to ask can i use DMF as solvent in those slurries instead of DMSO ?
I didn't use DMSO for making slurry yet. If your binder is PVDF, I think it is ok to dissolve PVDF by DMSO. A previous report has used DMSO as a solvent to prepare homogenious PVDF solution.(1)
DMSO has higher boiling point than DMF, then it may take time to dry electrodes completely. The viscosity of DMSO is also higher than that of DMF, so it may effect to the uniform of casted film on the current collector.
Hope it can help.

If its an organic based slurry, say, with PVdF binder.
DMF, DMAc, DMSO, NMP are all possible choices, as solvents only play a role to help the slurry to be well mixed, and are expected to be completely expelled under heat so there's no residual left.
The selection criteria is to make sure your newly synthesized active material does not react with the solvent (usually not the case) and with acceptable affinity to the solvent, so active material, conductor, and binder are homogeneous, minimizing the charge/discharge overpotential.
