I am currently working on some project where i need to do a quick estimate of climate change impact on stream flow so i selected GR4J model. but i suspect that this models lack robustness when they are dealing with non stationary data set. so i wanted to know whether or not i have to choose another method or is this model is being used for the same purpose on other study areas? can any body help?

Yes, you can, however, using that model to predict tomorrow will be awful. Probably the best prediction of tomorrow is “tomorrow is just like today.”
That being said, you can get around that by choosing different validation periods to assess the reliability of the model. This means you have to do more in calibrating the model. If you want, you can compare the results of your model to another Hydro-model. Be certain that your input and calibrating data sets are good.
yes u can use but u have to focus on the parameters upon which u want to concentrate. In water resource and climate change main parameters like precipitation, temperature. In this model also precipitation, ET, runoff, hydrograph etc are taken care. So u can use, no problem, just take care of the units of the parameters.
