Can I study the effect of 2 independent variables on a dependent variable when there is an effect relationship between the independent ones too?

Hello researchers..

I want to study the effect of teacher's mindset on students' attitude and the effect of students' mindset on their attitude.

But I know there is an effect relationship between teacher's mindset and their students' mindset and I want to study it as well.

So I now have 3 effect relationships (teacher's mindset + students' mindset), (teacher's mindset + students' attitude) & (students' mindset + students' attitude).

I want to use the ex post facto design.

How can I run such a study?

Any suggestions?

If you are able to measure Teacher's mind set and Student's mind set and Student's attitudes, you could run a multiple regression with Student's attitude as dependent variable (criterion), and Teachers' mind set plus Student's mind set as independent variable (or predictors). You should also take into account the possible interaction between Teacher's mind set and Student's mind set.
