I'm working on a phage stability experiment and I want to expose phages to a range of pH conditions (e.g., pH 3 to pH 11).

since I want to test pH stability after specific treatment, I plan to prepare larger volumes in advance to avoid re-preparing solutions each time and to overcome PH meter reading and technical errors.

Is it scientifically valid to use non-buffered NaOH/HCl-adjusted solutions and for how much time they are stable?

If I do use a buffer, would the pH stay more stable long-term, and for how long can I expect them to remain accurate?

Thank you in advance
