Hi all, this is an excerpt of a question that I am planning to include in my questionnaire to find out the reasons why people visit place X. My intention is to compute the means of each reason and rank them based on the highest to the lowest mean value.

My question is: would it be ok to include an option for others to allow respondents to list other reasons not included in the question? (I have 9 reasons in that question currently). How would it affect the computation of the mean of each reason and their rankings? My concern is that if participants list reasons outside of the 9 that I have provided, not all of them is going to rate it because it is not in the question.

Thanks for the advice!
