Can I get mtDNA from cells by using a DNA extraction kit?

I want to extract mitochondrial DNA from human cells. Can I use usual DNA extraction kit?

My colleague regularly uses the Qiagen DNeasy Blood & Tissue Kit to extract mitochondrial DNA for sequencing work, but there is also the QIAamp DNA micro kit for smaller samples.
