I will be conducting studies in pediatric populations (7 to 17 years) with metabolic diseases and a large number of papers related to characterization of the intestinal microbiome and mycobiome are focused on adult populations. There is a consensus that the infant gut microbiota stabilizes at 3 years of age, although I have not found similar information regarding the intestinal mycobiota. Despite this, I am not sure if it would be valid to use as references the values presented in adults, so I seek to consult for an opinion. Thank you in advance.
