I have collected data of 700 dengue patients. Among them 8 patients died. Now I am planning to write a paper on death cases of dengue. Can I adopt case control study design in this case....

For example: For example I select 1 death cases and 5 non-death cases from my cohort (e.g. if one patient died in 2009 then I randomly select 5 non-death cases from same year or one patient died in September 2009 then I randomly select 5 non-death cases from same month). By this way, out of total 700 cases i will get 40 non-death cases against 8 death cases. Is it appropriate way to do a case control study?

Secondly Can I apply univariate and multivariate analysis to determine risk factors of mortality in this case control study.

I need your kind suggestions in this regard.
