I have a study with results "incidence of 32 per 1000 PY (95% CI 9-55 per 1000 PY)" and I am wondering how to include this in my meta-analysis (which is using hazard ratios). Is there a calculation? I did a search but having trouble finding something credible.

I suspect that you have the incidence rate in two groups, exposed and non-exposed, and that you can calculate the incidence rate ratio.
The answer: It depends on the type of exposures. For all practical purposes, for dichotomous non-time-varying exposures, the hazard ratio can be interpreted as incidence rate ratio.

What confidence criterion do you want to use? Do you have a comparison group? It would be optimal to describe the design of your study. Without answers to these questions, it seems difficult to give you a recommendation.
