We have currently in the lab only human cytokines and I wonder if the homology is big enough to be used to stimulate mouse cells or whether it is necessary to order mouse cytokines for this purpose.
Unfortunately, in a word the answer to your question is NO. Why? Indeed theoretically in mice, T cells will be educated by the mouse thymus using mouse cytokines, such as IL-15. However, in the humanized mouse in order to improve the development of human NK cell populations, it did not work out. Thus species-specific cytokines produced by these transferred human cells and their (differentiated) progenitors were able to affect only these human cells ...
Thank you for your answer. Maybe the question was too obvious and the best is of course to use species matched cytokines, but some people have told me they use human IL-2 to stimulate mouse cells for example, so I was wodering if someone tried with other cytokines. Anyway maybe it would not be ideal since the affinity to the receptor will not be high enough..
