I have to perform dialysis after Ni-NTA purification. Can I reuse a dialysis membrane. It has been kept in a sodium azide solution(1%) fir past six months at 4 degree. If yes, what is the procedure?
Agreed with Adam. It can be reused. You may boil it up to 10 min in ddH2O then rinse it with ddH2O. Please go through manufacturer instructions before doing this as boiling can damage the membrane and alter the pore rating.
As Adam mentioned it is not worth for time and efforts. If something unexpected happens in your result, it'll make you to suspect about your purification procedure.
It can be reused as long as it is not demand, but if you are chanced, it is better to use a new one cos it does not worth it like it has been outrightly stated.
If you get any salary that is more than 2$ per hour it's not really worth the effort, considering the chemicals and time that you need. I'm not even talking about residual protein aggregates that might be still adsorbed in the pores or the risk of damaging the membrane.
It can be reused by boiling in distilled water for 10min and rinse in distilled water and you can store them in 1% sodium azide, I recommend upto two months not more than that.
