I have used it. But be careful.

You may get cysteinylation of cysteines in your protein.

And GSSG is not very soluble. You may not achieve the concentrations you need.

Thank you Achim. Is there any way to minimize cysteinylation of cysteines in my protein if I go for cysteine/cystine?

I am not aware of a way to stop it. Some proteins, or more specifically, some cysteine thiols in a protein are more sensitive to it than others.

Cells use the GSH / GSSG system, because of the much better solubility of GSSG compared to cystine (cys-SS-cys). I think this may be the bigger problem for you when using cysteine/cystine.
