Off course it depends by several factors. First of all the printing parameters. These affect significantly the porosity grade of the metal and, consequently, their properties.

Yes we can 3D print connecting rod for sure but not all 3D printing processes are suitable for a connecting rod. What kind of 3D printing are you opting? SLS, DLMS, EBM, SLM? theoritically we can 3D print an entire auto mobile... But 3D printing is way too pricy when compared to the conventional procedures. in case of engines we need to look for porosity and surface textures...
Yes they are printable but the mechanical properties will be nowhere near as good as a forged one. It’s more proof of concept use
Thermomechanical treatment is a must to achieve the desired properties through an appropriate microstructure. 3D printing will give you only a shape. If the as printed microstructure and the corresponding properties are adequate for an application you can use a 3D printed product. Many products need to be better than the 3D printed ones !
