Most proteins should be denatured after autoclaving growth medium containing yeast extract, but I wonder if there are any reports about active yeast enzymes in growth medium?
I agree with Pierre, I would find it very unlikely that any enzymes remained, with the possible exception of enzymes that refold with high efficiency, such as RNases. But I've never done the test.
Hello, I have the study of difference between autoclaving and filtration of media which containing yeast extract but not observed any differences and influence on grow of different group of microorganisms.
Aside from enzymatic reactions, there is also a possible reaction with sulfite. I also wonder; do tryptone or yeast extract contain significant amounts of sulfite?
