I’ve been told:

  • NEVER thaw viral stocks in a 37 degree water bath, always just thaw on ice
  • RSV is too unstable to thaw that slowly it needs to be quickly (less than 30s) swished in a 37 degree bath with some ice still present and thaw the rest on ice
  • Thaw on ice or just hold the stock in your hand it doesn’t matter
  • To give some context these stocks are in 1mL aliquots stored in 25% sucrose in a -80 freezer. Please help me! I need some reassurance before I run my plaque assay tomorrow and don’t have enough cells to test all techniques lol
