I have prepared (Bismuth Titanate)X - (Calcium Copper Titanate)1-X for six different composition (X=0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8 and 1.0), where Calcium copper titanate (X=0) having cubical phase and bismuth titanate (X=1) having an orthorhombical structure. But intermediate compositions (X=0.0, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8) structure, I'm unable to find out the crystal structure for these composition. So please suggest how to index?
Do you have a good quality pattern of peaks?
What data base are you using? PDF2? Try to find something on free database called COD. If you have a HighScore plus software from Panalytical you can index a COD into the data base. If you need the software, please reach me by message.
Do you expect that a solid solution can form? In general, depending on the relative amount of Bi and Ca the orthorhombic or cubic structure should prevail. Otherwise compounds other than you expect can form. In fact, if you find agreement only for the pure compound this could be an indication that in the other cases different phases stabilize. Can you show the patterns? Maybe in this case it could be more simple try to help you
Generally, when there is solid solution (althought limited) you must seen the corners structures (orthorhombic or cubic) for low (or high) values of x. If there is not solid solution at all, you must see both structures in the same pattern. Please, post the diffraction patterns.
