I am working on the notion of business model innovation in the context of business ecosystem and particularly the role of linked activities of various partners to re-design their business models to create value and capture part of it. Can anyone suggest the related research papers and mention any ongoing empirical research on this issue?
I am not sure I completely understand "activity systems perspective", is there a theoretical basis for your idea? Perhaps you will find some answers in the reference sections of the journals provided below....Good luck!

these interdependecies between BM and its ecosystem is also part of my PhD thesis. The more dynamic perspective is not directly theorized at the moment. Still, there is a lot going on, especially from the ecosystem and platform literature. But in BM literature I found these here suitable.

I noticed that Amit & Zott have done a lot research in the area of business models, activity systems, capturing value & business environments:

Many thanks for the valuable contribution for answering this question. I have exclusively followed Zott and Amit's research on business model design elements and themes which mainly describes organizational processes (at firm level) to alter or modify business models. My main concern is the interaction of firm-level business models of partner organizations and the resultant change in business model of the whole business ecosystem. Special thanks to Martin Kamprath to mention work of Van der Borgh, M., Cloodt, M. and Romme on knowledge based ecosystems. it provides deeper insights on how firm-level and industry level business models are connected with each other.
I have also gone through Casadesus-Masanell and John Ricart's "from strategies to business models and to tactics" and understood that in fact it is the tactical level which comprises and activity system of an organization to alter not only its own business model but also business model of the interacting partners. Thus, in a business ecosystem perspective, tactical choices of different interacting organizations become source of "industry-level business model innovation (change).
now my next question is whether this "change" is "simultaneous" or "subsequent". Another question is that if we want to measure this "change" what would be the appropriate method of research i.e., qualitative (interviews and surveys) or quantitative (longitudinal studies).
I would further request to share expert opinion on above mentioned questions.

To your knowledge, do any of the above papers / articles (or others not mentioned here) describe the effect [an increase in a firm's market power] as the result of a firm's ecosystem becoming a key component of their strategic plan?
