If teflon is in the liquid phase or in the solution, dip coating might be very easy and cheap.
You may try dipping into these suspensions (several times if necessary), with subsequent heating/melting:

Visiting the link, you will find amorphous fluoropolymers (AF) solvable in appropriate solvents, then use sort of dip coating to apply the AF on your PT-wire.
