A question like this is often asked in the post-Soviet countries. I've heard that there are even some private companies selling the satellite data, the data that is normally available for free, at least if I am looking for it inside the EU. Still, some civil services and science projects in e.g. Russia claim for the high satellite data prices. And it seems to be not just about military data. So, I wonder. Can anybody tell me if there are differences in the data access policy for e.g. ESA satellite data for projects/private companies hosted outside the EU?

dear Iryna high resolution satellite data is not available for free downlaod unles they are old or for specfici places. As I know, the access policy depends on the type of data and the place. Chadi, thanks for that and i could find that submitting a proposal might help to get some data

You can try McIDAS-V. This is free visualization software that you can use to look at a variety of remote sensing data and it can read data in of different formats as well. Connect to the adde.ucar.edu server to get access to free data. There are products and raw data out there in their various datasets.

CBERS's HRC panchromatic is 2,7m resolution. I think the latest images are from 2011. You can find the free images at http://www.dgi.inpe.br/CDSR/
