you can use primers for some housekeeping gene or genes for the toxin production, very well described in the paper below:

Another option (in the absence of MALDI-TOF in your lab) is to use a rapid latex agglutination test (e.g. from Oxoid).
I am sure that after couple of C. difficile positive cultures, you will be able to recognize C. difficile on selective agar based on the typical phenotype without a need of PCR confirmation.
