Start here. The GEM comprises several components of women’s empowerment including women’s representation in parliament, official and management positions, the number of female technical professionals. The Gender-related Development Index captures the same set of indicators as the Human Development Index; life expectancy, educational attainment, and income, but adjusts the results for gender inequality.
