Someone in our lab would like to continue using DNAStrider but has switched to a Mac laptop running OS10.8. Is there a similar program that is OSX compatible?

You can purchase a compatible version of DNA Strider from the original author. I am using version 1.5 which works fine on OS 10.8 and 10.9
Two years ago I requested a compatible copy to the original author and he e-mailed me DNA Strider 1.5a12. It worked fine on OS 10.7 then, and works fine on 10.9 now. I haven't tried 10.8.
Yes the new version (1.5) works on Yosemite. You need to get it directly from the author.
I wrote to Christian Marck and he kindly sent me the new version. Wonderful!
I like Strider better as well, I'm just used to it. I really wish someone could make a compatible version available.
There is a new version of DNA strider (1.5) that works on current versions of Mac, I use it with El Capitan.
1.5 works for rescuing old strider files, but the layout is pretty different. I really miss the old versions, 1.4 and before. Such is life, I guess I had to learn to use other programs eventually.
I am using Strider 2.0 in El Capitan (OSX). It works very weel. I got it from Christian Marck . He says it DNA Strider 2.0 runs on all Mac OS System versions from X.6 to X.10. But you need a full HD screen.
