The main objective is to determine the impact of climatic changes and meteorological events recorded in peat bodies using non-invasive methods (GPR) to analyse at which extent these processes caused changes in high mountains ecosystems (as essential part of the critical zone) of the study area.

I reviewed some work on peat swamps in Borneo. I don't have access to all the literature right now but I recall that a group of researchers had used GPR for mapping peat depths across some of the peat forest areas. Here's one reference that may lead to others: Bechteler, A. and Siegert, F. (2004). Recurrent fires in tropical peatlands in Central Kalimantan. 12th International Peat Congress, Tampere. Here's part of a summary I wrote (unfortunately, I don't have the full references): "Extensive areas of forest in Kalimantan are located in peatlands that are susceptible to degradation and fires when the forest cover is degraded. These peatlands are important sources of water for agriculture and they store large volumes of carbon – more in the peat deposits than in the standing trees (Boehm and Frank, 2008). The degradation of the peatland forests through logging and conversion to agriculture and plantations has important consequences for local communities, agriculture and climate change (Miettinen et al., 2007)."

It was not the same objective as yours, as this was the contact between peat and bedrock that was searched for (rather than discontinuities within the peat, as I understand you want to find out), but researchers from the Liège University carried out extensive GPR exploration in the Hautes Fagnes (Hohes Venn) peat bogs of E Belgium a decade ago or so.
