I'm trying to make a review of the techniques used for solving both production and transport problems. I may have to find the same authors working on both subjects.
it depends on which applying/research field is concerned, if you talk about shop scheduling, for instance, you should look at hoist scheduling problems... could you precise a little bit please, best regards
There are tons of references under the heading of supply chain management considering both production and transportation problems. Our own book on this is
Voß, Stefan / Woodruff, David L.
Introduction to Computational Optimization Models for Production Planning in a Supply Chain. 2nd edition 2006, Springer, Berlin, ISBN : 978-3-540-29878-6
A specific issue that you might like to look at is related to "postponement." Here specific steps of the production process are procrastinated along the supply chain. This is a nice area combining various production and transportation options.
Flow shop scheduling problem with automated transportation (transportation by robot) is an interesting problem for this purpose. See http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0166218X00003164
